Jen brings years of breastfeeding skills and experience to this course as a certified Antenatal Educator, an advanced Breastfeeding Counsellor with Cuidiú and worked as the Breastfeeding Co-Ordinator in a national charity for a number of years. She also personally breastfed two children into toddlerhood and exclusively expressed for her third child for 2 years.

Mary has been offering breast-feeding support in Ireland since she trained as a doula in 2006. She is an advanced Breastfeeding Counsellor with Cuidiú and has personally breastfed two children for an extended period of time.

The majority of parents-to-be, have no experience of breastfeeding, many of us have never even seen someone breastfeeding before our own baby comes along. As a result we are often unaware of what ‘normal’ breast-feeding looks like. Alongside that, in Ireland, we still live in a bottle feeding culture, where a bottle is seen as a solution to a breastfeeding problem.

Just thought I'd give you an update on my pumping journey. Its going really well, my supply went up nicely after some power pumping days around 3 weeks. People keep telling me how hard it must be to exclusively pump, and I always tell them it's about educating yourself. Our zoom session and watching your videos, reading your blogs is what kept me going. All those tips helped a lot!

Preparing for breastfeeding while you are pregnant is hugely important if you are hoping to have a successful and positive breastfeeding experience after the birth of your baby.

There’s actually quite a lot to learn about breastfeeding and trying to take in this information once baby is here can be overwhelming and confusing - and often leads to people giving up in those early days.

We have one of the lowest breastfeeding rates in the world here in Ireland and some of that is to do with lack of evidence based information. This course gives you the information you need to build your breastfeeding journey and whether this is your 1st or your 8th baby we recognise that each journey is unique, and will cover all the basics.

With 1-1 sessions, we can also cover topics individual to your situation (such as medical conditions, or separation after birth for a pre- existing medical condition with mum or baby).
